Daniel Im is a student intern with the Korean American Institute, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to produce insightful and actionable research to improve policy making on issues facing Korean Americans. He joined KAI in the summer of 2026 and contributes to research on social issues such as civil rights, immigration, and family security.

At KAI, Daniel has supported policy research and contributed to the redesign of the organization’s website, helping present complex policy topics in a clear and accessible way. His research interests focus on the social and institutional factors that shape the experiences of Korean Americans and other underserved communities, with the goal of advancing informed, evidence-based policymaking.

Originally from Centreville, Virginia, Daniel is pursuing a B.A. in Political Science at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Before joining KAI, he participated in a human rights program in Cape Town, South Africa, where he explored issues of justice and civic engagement. He has also worked in a congressional campaign office, further strengthening his interest in public policy, civic participation, and community advocacy.
