Peter Kwon
Peter Kwon is Project Director of the Korean American Institute, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to produce insightful and actionable research to improve decision making on issues facing Korean Americans.
Peter also serves in elected office as a member of the City Council of SeaTac, Washington. He became involved in politics after spearheading a neighborhood project to create a locking mailbox program to reduce mail theft. After starting a volunteer yard work program to help local seniors and disabled residents and leading an online community forum, Peter’s neighbors urged him to run for office and provided grassroots support.
Peter served as President of the Asian Pacific American Municipal Officials for two terms and is a member of various government boards and commissions. In 2019, he received a “Top Contributor” award by Northwest Asian Weekly.
Formally trained in engineering and computer science, Peter is an information technology expert who has held technology roles with Microsoft, Napster, Boeing, Nordstrom, and other companies in the Seattle area.
